Glance of NEET Scam-

On June 4, 2024, citizens eagerly awaited election results, unaware another announcement would lead to many students attempting suicide. Yes I am talking about “NEET Scam 2024”.
Before knowing about this scam, clear your basics.

what is NEET?

Actually NEET is a national level entrance exam, every medical student has a dream to clear this entrance exam. After passing this exam, you can get admission in top government Indian medical institutes from where students can complete their medical studies at an affordable price or fulfill their dream of becoming a doctor.

The NEET Scam –

When we’ve got the efficient knowledge about the NEET exam then move towards our main topic “NEET Scam 2024”

On June 5, 2024, 24 lakh NEET aspirants sat for the exam. Bihar police learned from a central agency that the paper had been leaked. Consequently, Bihar police initiated an investigation.

During the investigation, police intercepted a duster car containing four students. Upon inspection, police discovered their admit cards and copies of the leaked paper scheduled for that day.

Upon questioning, the students admitted to acquiring the leaked paper the previous night at a boys hostel, where 25 other NEET candidates were present for the same purpose.

Bihar Police raised concerns, but NTA refuted the claims, labeling them as false.

Now you are thinking what is NTA?

Actually NTA refers to National Testing Agency that conducts 17 exams in India in which exams like JEE or NEET are popular.

Back to the Topic:

According to the data released on the official website of NTA, the results of NEET were to be declared on 14th June but without any official announcement, NTA also declared the NEET result along with the election results on 4th June and this result became the reason for the death of students.

Actually this scam came to light because of the marking scheme of NEET.
What is the marking scheme of NEET?

There are 200 questions in NEET exam out of which aspirants have to attempt 180.
Per right answer 4 numbers are given or per wrong answer one number is deducted.

Meaning total 720 number exam will be held. According to this it can be seen that if all the answers of a student are correct then he will get 720 numbers, if he has not attempted a question he will get 716 numbers and if he has given wrong answer to one question then he will get 715 numbers.

But 2 students got numbers 718 and 719 which is impossible according to the marking scheme. Only this is not a problem, this year 67 students got AIR-1 rank, if the exam was easy then it would have been possible, but according to coachings and institutes the paper was tough or impossible for 67 students to get AIR-1 together.

Today everyone in the country is talking about this topic and why not ? After all, it is a question of the future of the country, a question of the future of students whose families have sold everything to send them coaching.
Students and their parents are demanding for Re-NEET and we want it too, government should look into the matter to ensure that the talent may not get wasted.
